The department is having well qualified and experienced faculty members. The teaching methodology in the department goes beyond fulfilling the syllabus requirements of the curriculum, to meet the today's industry needs. Faculty motivates and guides the students to do mini projects in core subjects. Special focus is being given to develop Communication and Soft Skills. The department has very good association with industries to uplift the student's practical knowledge.
Students are also involved in the research activities and many of the students are taking research problems as their problem statements for their mini projects and course projects. In addition, a few faculty of the department are preparing the proposals for the In-house R&D Projects funded by the college and external agencies. Faculty of the department have published more than 30 papers during the past three years in different journals and conferences.
A good number of faculty members are regularly attending the conferences/workshops and Faculty Development Programs etc., to enhance their quality in academics. To get themselves acquaint with latest technological trends, the faculty are being deputed to Industrial training during slack period of the academic year. Experts from Industries are being invited to deliver extension lectures as per the industry requirements.
MOU's are signed with Industries to establish the Industry-Institution interaction for arranging Industrial visits, to take up live projects and to offer training to the faculty and staff.
At the beginning of each academic year, Teacher Training Programs(In House and By External Experts) are being conducted to train the young faculty members.
A major syllabus revision is taken up during this Academic Year 2010-11 for Autonomous status emphasizing on contemporary job oriented courses. Extensive care has been taken in designing the appropriate syllabus as per the current industry needs.
Right from the inception of the department, the student's success rate is around 95%. The department has well equipped laboratory with advanced systems and software. Additional experiments are being conducted in each lab to ensure more practical exposure. In addition to the Central Library, department library is functioning with 360 volumes to extend reference facility to the faculty and students. Teaching aids are used in the regular academic activity. Students can also access the Digital Library from the department computer center. Internet facility is provided for the benefit of students.
An exclusive counseling class is included in the Time-table in which each faculty is allotted with 15 students. Students are counseled in these classes and problems pertaining to their academic/personal are provided with solutions. Regularity and Discipline has been given utmost priority.
Students are encouraged to actively participate in the Co curricular and extracurricular activities organized on a regular basis by the departmental students’ association. They are encouraged to deliver seminar in regular classes and also to present papers in various technical events.
Students are being trained by conducting special classes on the ‘Core Concepts’ and ‘Soft Skills’ in the process of making them competent for the campus selections.
During the past 4 academic years, the outgoing students have secured good number of placements and the target of 100% placements is well in approach during the present academic year.
The students are effectively exploiting the facilities like: CISCO Networking Academy, Microsoft Academy, IBM Centre of Excellence and Innovation Centre. During the current academic year, the final year students have under gone the CISCO Network Certification training in the college itself. And 24 students of the department have cleared the IBM DB2 Certification exam. Students have the provision to materialize their innovative ideas in Innovation Centre.
