The Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) department was established in 1998 offers Under Graduate Program (B.Tech) and Post Graduate Program (M.Tech) in CSE. The B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) program was started in the year 1998 with an intake of 40 students and subsequently increased to 60 students in the year 1999, 90 students in the year 2008 and 120 students in the year 2009 and 180 students in the year 2019. The M.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) was started in the year 2008 with an intake of 18 students. CSE Department was Accredited by NBA in the year 2008, 2019 (Under Tier-I) and 2022 (Under Tier-I), valid up to Academic Year: 2022-25.
The department is having well qualified and experienced faculty members. The faculty is a perfect blend of different specializations in Computer Science and Engineering to impart their expertise in handling diversified courses of the UG and PG Programs. The teaching methodology in the department goes beyond fulfilling the syllabus requirements of the University to meet the today's industry needs. Faculty motivates and guides the students to do mini projects in core subjects. Special focus will be given to develop Communication and Soft Skills. The department is having strong association with industries to uplift the student's practical knowledge.
An R&D centre has been established in the department to take up Research projects and also to cater to the needs of faculty, who are doing their Research work. The focus areas of the department for R&D activities identified are Knowledge Engineering Research, Networking and High Performance Computing. The department of CSE has been recognized as the research centre by JNTUK, KAKINADA from 2014 onwards. The department of CSE also has the collaborations with the premier industries like CISCO, IBM and MICROSOFT and has established their excellence centres in the department.
Students are also involved in the research activities of the faculty. In addition, some of the faculty of the CSE department have various R & D Projects funded by DST & AICTE, Govt. of India. Faculty of the department has published reputed journals and conferences. MOU's are signed with Industries in around the Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai to establish the Industry-Institution Interaction for arranging Industrial Visits, to take up live projects and to offer training to the faculty and staff. The student's success rate is above 87% during the past 5 years. All the laboratories of the department are established spaciously with high-end configuration systems. The computer student ratio is maintained as 1:3. Additional experiments are being conducted in each lab to facilitate the students towards more practical exposure. In addition to the Central Library, a Library is functioning in the department with 960 volumes to extend reference facility to the faculty and students.
