Enrollment Criteria

Age limit for a student to join NCC
Criteria for Enrolment
For Junior Division / Wing - 13-18.5 Years
For Senior Division / Wing - Students Class XI onwards including college upto 24 yrs of age.
("DIVISION" FOR BOYS, "WING" FOR GIRLS)

Quantitative Requirement: No student of any University offering himself/herself for enrollment in the senior division shall be eligible for enrolment
a) Unless he/she is of good character
b) Unless he/she is a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal: provided that the central Govt. may in any suitable case, relax the provision of this clause.
c) Unless he/she is under age of 24 years; provided that the central Govt. may in the case of any student or class of student relax the provisions in this clause
d) Unless he/she is on the roll of the college which is providing the unit or part thereof
e) Unless he/she satisfies such standard of physical fitness in height, chest measurement and other respects as may be specified by the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India
f) If he/she has at any time been convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude and a sentence other than one of the fine or imprisonment in default of payment of fine has been passed in respect of such offense, such sentence not having been subsequently reversed or remitted or the offense pardoned. Provided that a person who is ineligible under this clause shall be eligible for enrollment if he produces a certificate from the state Govt. that he is a fit person to be enrolled
g) If he/she has been dismissed from the University Corps of the Indian Territorial Force or the National Cadet Corps or the Territorial Army or the Indian Armed Forces
h) If he/she is a member of any organization of the nature specified in Paragraph-1 of Schedule III.

Enrollment Period
4. All cadets are to be enrolled for three years (extendable for another year in case of SD/SW).

NCC Enrolments

INCENTIVES

1. Develop qualities like social service, team spirit, leadership, discipline and self confidence.
2. Since NCC camps are held at different places in the country, cadets get opportunity to visit important historical and industrial places and social centers. Due to this students widen their horizon and develop ambition to do creative work.
3. NCC cadets are taught civil defence and self defence. Due to this cadets develop national spirit and confidence.
4. NCC cadets are attached with army units every year so that they get acquainted with the army life.
5. NCC cadets are trained for parachute jumps and mountaineering so that they develop capacity to do courageous work.
6. Selected cadets are sent to foreign countries every year.
7. 32 seats are reserved per course in the IMA for cadets who have passed NCC `C` certificate examination. NCC cadets having 50% aggregate marks in graduation with minimum `B` grade in `C` certificate examination are eligible for short service commission( NCC special entry scheme) without qualifying CDS written examination. They will face direct SSB interview.
8. NCC trained cadets are given preference in recruitment of armed forces.
9. Many Industrialists give priority in jobs for NCC trained students.
10. Central and state governments also give priority in job for NCC trained students.
11. Priority is given to NCC trained students by Universities in B.Ed, MA MSc admition and hostel.
12. NCC trained students are given priority in recruitment in central reserve force and BSF etc.
13. NCC cadets are given refreshment on every parade and are given washing allowance for uniform.
14. NCC cadets are given facility to purchase goods from military canteen.
15. On death or permanently handicapped of NCC cadet during NCC activities, a sum of Rs. 2,00,000 are paid from NCC welfare society.

Honours & Awards

The NCC was introduced with the vision to provide secular, united and disciplined citizens for future India. The following awards have been instituted to provide recognition to NCC personnel and to motivate others to emulate them.

Raksha Mantri’s Padak:

It is awarded by the Defence Minister of India to NCC personnel, including cadets for performance of any exceptional act involving courage, devotion to duty and contribution of lasting value to the NCC.

Raksha Mantri’s Prashansa Patra:

The Defence Minister’s commendations Card is awarded to NCC personnel including cadets for any outstanding act involving leadership, courage or devotion to duty, which enhances the image of the NCC.

Raksha Sachiv Prashansa Patra :

The Defence Secretayr’s commission Card is awarded for outstanding acts or deeds in the fields of adventure sports, training or for outstanding contribution in social or cultural activities.

Maha Nirdeshak Prashansa Patra :

The DG NCC Commendation Card is awarded for outstanding acts or deeds in the field of adventure sports, training or for outstanding contribution in social or cultural activities by NCC Whole time Officers, ANOs, Under Officer Instructors, Sergeant Major Instructors and NCC cadets.

Governor’s and Chief Minister’s Cash Award :

These are given to the cadets for their outstanding contributions to NCC related activities. The above awards are given to individuals who perform exceptional acts involving courage, devotion to duty and any contribution of lasting value to the organization, which brings glory and fame to the NCC. The highest NCC award is the Raksha Mantri’s Padak. These awards are announced on the NCC Day which falls on the last Sunday of November every year and are given by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri during his visit to the Republic Day NCC Camp. The prestigious Ashok Chakra can also be awarded to NCC personnel as well as cadets, by the President of India, for most conspicuous bravery or some act of daring or premier valor or self sacrifice, other than in the face of the enemy.

Candidates applying under University Entry/ Direct Entry Scheme for Engineering and Electrical Branches may opt for seven years Short Service Commission or Permanent commission.

Candidates applying under University Entry/ Direct Entry Scheme are given a stipend of Rs.2,300/1,150 p.m. for Permanent / Short Service Commission respectively during final year at college.

Candidates applying under Naval Sponsored Scheme are paid a stipend of Rs.400/- p.m. plus tuition fees during first three yeas of Engineering Degree course and thee after they are granted rank of Acting Sub-Lieutenant and paid Rs.7,500 only per month.

Short Service Commission is a scheme for those who wish to retain the option of leaving the service after a stint in it. The duration of Short Service Commission is 7 years. After a period of 2 to 3 years, Officers are given the option to accept permanent Commission.
